A Stoner’s Final Salute to the Late Bob Saget
[ad_1]
Over the past twelve months we’ve lost two great comics, icons of their times. I’m talking of course about the late Norm McDonald and more recently Bob Saget, who died in a hotel room at the age of 65. Some of the newer generations might not be too familiar with Bob Saget, but every stoner that was alive during the 1990s and 2000s knew of the man – especially with his appearance in Dave Chappelle’s Half Baked.

People watching the clip might not fully understand the social context of that scene. Saget at that time was mostly known for his role on Full House as “Danny Tanner”, the widowed father of three girls. Other than that, he was also the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos – which was essentially the precursor to shows like Ridiculousness. In essence, the image of Bob Saget was as the “nice guy”, the “family man”, essentially a television personality that was loved by the world. Then suddenly you see him in Half Baked asking Chappelle if he has ever sucked dicked for marijuana.
While nobody still knows exactly of what Mr. Saget died, what we do know is that he was found in the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grand Lakes according to the Sherriff’s office. According to initial findings, there is no evidence of foul play or drug use. There is also no indications of self-harm and according to the coroner’s office – “A full study and investigation can take up to three months”.
In the meanwhile, we will have to wait and see if anything new turns up in the coming months. Nonetheless, the world was in shock when they found out that Bob Saget died at 65.
Bob’s impact on weed…
When we think of “Bob” and cannabis, we typically first go to Bob Marley, however Bob Saget has a strain of cannabis named after him called, “Bob Saget” or “The Bob”. This Sativa Dominant Hybrid boasts over 20% THC and is said to give you a real energized head high. Here’s one review from Leafly on the strain;
So I like to start off by saying this is the best strains I ever tried and I have tried many. I never felt the need to write a review about any strain until now. I have thyroid problems along with low blood pressure and low blood sugar so I’m always getting panic attacks and anxiety. I can tell you that I felt I couldn’t even have a panic attack if I wanted to on this strain. It puts your mind state in such a happy place it was nearly impossible for me to get any type of anxiety. On this strain you feel calm but energized but not in a way that you feel you have to move around a lot, it’ just Makes you feel alive. I laughed a ton and it just made me legit forget about any problems or stress in my life. I highly recommend this to anyone because everyone goes through stress and this strain is definitely a stress reliever. 5 plus stars!!! – SOURCE
The strain took 2nd place at the 2016 Cannabis cup in Colorado. Needless to say, the impact of Bob Saget left an imprint in the cannabis community and if you’re lucky enough, perhaps a dispensary near you might be carrying some “The Bob” for you to smoke in solidarity. According to Saget himself, he loved the fact that there was a cannabis strain named after him despite the fact that he did not smoke himself.
Bob’s dirty style…
While Bob might have played a TV dad for years entertaining millions, he was in fact one dirty motherfucker. His rendition of “The Aristocrats” was probably one of the most offensive and gross performances of the joke.
If you don’t know what the Aristocrats is, then you’re in for a treat. I haven’t seen it in a while, but when I was still a young impressionable young stoner, the film definitely shook me. You can watch the Trailer Here. And if you are interested in watching Bob Saget’s rendition of the joke you can see that here. Now I do have to warn you, there will be a whole lot of vulgarity and obscenities spoken if you click that last link. If you’re easily offended, rather ignore that link and go for a walk – you’ll feel much better.
However, if you are a depraved sicko that enjoys our collective mind filth, then that link is definitely a peak into the astonishing depth of obscurity that was the mind of Bob Saget.
A Stoner’s Salute…
Now that we have explored only a tiny portion of who Bob Saget was, it’s time to pack a bong, roll a joint or a blunt, pack a bowl and salute a man that lived to entertain. A man that despite not smoking weed, had a strain named after him. A man that could say some of the most wicked shit you can think of, yet still have a face that made you think he was a nice guy.
In reality, Bob Saget was a nice guy – a nice guy with a dark edgy mind and managed to push the envelope and the boundaries of free speech. Many of the old TV personalities return to their roots – comedy – however, Bob was a type of comic that somehow made you cringe while you laughed.
It’s always a sad day when a comic dies and while we might not have seen much of Bob Saget in the public eye these past few years, he was someone who has left a dent in the mass identity of a generation. Full House will be a little less full with Bob gone…
God speed you fucker! God speed!
